Tata Nano

Tata Motors of India just announced what is said to be the world’s cheapest car.
cheap car
The four-door, five-seater has a 33bhp, 624cc, engine at the rear.
The Tata Nano, will sell for 100,000 rupees or $2,500usd.

The environmentalist say that a cheap car like this will lead to more traffic and pollution.

Tata says the car has passed emission standards and would average about 50 miles to the gallon.
The Nano is expected to replace a number of small motor scooters.

The car is held together by adhesives instead of welding and the body is made up of sheet metal and plastic.
It has manual steering, hand crank windows, and no a/c.

This car is designed for Indian families.
At a whopping 33hp and a top speed of 70km/h (43mph) I hope they don’t have many hills where this is sold.
