Digital TV
This is the government’s statement from the web:
At midnight on February 17, 2009, all full-power television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100% digital broadcasting. Digital broadcasting promises to provide a clearer picture and more programming options and will free up airwaves for use by emergency responders.
As a result those of us who still use analog sets are going to have to replace them or buy converter boxes.
Our government in an act of unusual generosity is offering $40 coupons to be used towards the purchase of these converter box.
The website is: The TV Converter Box Coupon Program.
Via: NTIA, U.S. Department of Commerce, USA.gov.
This is the current list of qualifying converter boxes:
* DigitalSTREAM D2A1D10
* DigitalSTREAM D2A1D20
* Zenith DTT900
* Magnavox TB100MW9
* Philco TB150HH9
* MicroGEM MG2000
* Sansonic FT300RT

It is important to mention that this change will only affect those people who receive their television signal over the airwaves. This will not affect cable or satellite customers until 2012. According to sources, only 11% - 14% of American households receive broadcast only (mine being one of them).

Thank You:
I seem to have omitted that data.
FWIW:
I too use rabbit ears. I used to pay for cable, but with 100 channels there was still nothing on but reruns.
