Peacemaker
I was recently a new game. It’s called Peacemaker and is intended to show the process of making peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
Players can choose their preferred language and which leader they want to be. The game gives two options: either Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert or Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
The point of the game is to create a two state solution, bring peace to the middle east, and go to Oslo to collect your Nobel prize.
From what little I’ve read it’s not so easy, but I’m sure it can be done.
The question in my mind is, since it came from the Peres Center for Peace, just how bad is the propaganda, and how much is based on wishful thinking?
You cam download the demo here or buy the full game on the web site.

I’m still waiting for the english version of that game in which the Arabs are the good guys and the Israelis are the bad guys.
–Just for the novelty of owning such an obvious piece of retaliatory propaganda.
Although I’ve been warned that the controls still suck.
I guess it’s aimed at too small a market to get the sort of financial backing required to hire more experienced programmers.

Six apart sells Livejournal to Russian media company.
Blogging software maker Six Apart Dec. 3 said it has sold social networking software maker LiveJournal to Russian online media company SUP for an undisclosed sum.
The Kommersant business daily in Russia says the price-tag was in the neighborhood of $30 Million.
As part of the deal, SUP will create an American management company, LiveJournal Inc., to manage the social network’s operations. SUP will also form an advisory board that includes Brad Fitzpatrick, LiveJournal’s founder who now works for Google.
Six apart owns Vox, Movable Type and Typepad. All of which appear to be losing marketshare. They have also been under license to run LiveJournal.ru since 2006.
SUP owns Championat.ru which is one of Russia’s top three sports sites. They control/own a couple of advertising firms, including the one that controls the Russian ads on Last.fm.
The part that worries me is Russia’s trying to control all media. By controlling an online community and complete with blogs they can portray themselves and their perceived enemies in any manner they wish and give it an air of legitimacy.
Thinking about this makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, wondering what our own fearless leader and his appointees are up to.

Political Nevada
The Political Nevada Blog finally got off the ground. Now we’ll see if he has the stamina to maintain a constant flow.
His first post is a rant about public servants.
Maybe in the future he’ll name names.

Koenigsegg CCXR runs on biofuel
The Koenigsegg CCX is a supercar from Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg, to replace the Koenigsegg CCR. CCX is an abbreviation for Competition Coupe X, the X commemorates the 10th anniversary of the completion and test drive of the first CC vehicle in 1996. The CCX is intended to be suitable for the United States market and thus engineered to comply with US regulations. A base model CCX costs approximately US$540,000 (€395,000) but with all optional extras the car costs US$600,000 (€440,000)

The CCX was first unveiled on February 28, 2006 at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show although its existence was announced earlier. The CCX is also available as the CCXR, the difference being that CCXR’s engine is tuned to run on biofuel. The different fuel and tune allows the CCXR to produce 25% more power than the CCX.
It’s interesting to note that the biofuel version is not legal in the US.
Just like the high mileage diesel engine for the smart car is not legal here.
It sounds a lot like they are defending the oil industry doesn’t it?
